Papworth Davies worked with the Al-Taqwa Islamic College to plan for the expansion of the school and a new campus facility including a series of new classroom and amenity buildings and a central plaza and play space. Working closely with the school’s management team, Papworth Davies prepared an initial Concept Masterplan which aimed to provide a higher quality landscape setting for the growing school as well as the necessary functional considerations for a rapidly expanding campus.
The design includes a series of simple gestures that respond to traditional Islamic Garden Design such as the symmetry of the central square, use of shade and shelter and a backdrop of scented, colourful gardens. Our team of landscape architects also contributed to the bigger picture by considering the broader linkages and pedestrian circulation for the campus which will help integrate the new facilities with the existing network of building and play spaces. Our scope also included the preparation of detailed design documentation for submission to Council as part of the planning permit application.
